J.R. Martinez Earns First Perfect Scores of 'DWTS' Season

ABC/CRAIG SJODIN(LOS ANGELES) -- It may take a reality TV miracle for Nancy Grace to survive this week's Dancing with the Stars results show.

She stumbled so badly on Monday night's performance show that judge Len Goodman told her it was time for her to leave the competition.  For the second consecutive week, Grace settled at the bottom of the leader board.

J.R. Martinez, on the other hand, had the best night of any celebrity to date.  He delivered two flawless dances that earned him a perfect overall score of 60 out of 60.

After their first dance, the celebrities were assigned a surprise song to which they were instructed to perform an "instant jive."  It gave them an opportunity to practice a new routine on the fly.

Here's a rundown of Monday night's performances:

-- Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke tackled the quickstep to the 1980s A-Ha hit "Take On Me."  There was no sign of Rob's sister, the newly single Kim Kardashian, in the audience, though sisters Kourtney and Khloe, mom Kris Jenner, and stepfather Bruce Jenner were all there to support him.  After oddly noting that he'd examined Rob's rear end closely, Len Goodman said the quickstep was the reality TV star's best dance to date.  Bruno Tonioli said Rob was "speedier than a drag race."  Total score: 27 out of a possible 30.

Kardashian openly expressed his displeasure over the song he was assigned for his instance jive: the Hall and Oates hit "Maneater."  All three judges said his "kicks and flicks" in the dance could've been better.  Total score: 24/30.  Combined score: 51/60.

-- Hope Solo and Maksim Chmerkovskiy also performed the quickstep, to "Valerie," a song originally recorded by the British band The Zutons and subsequently covered by the late Amy Winehouse.  Tonioli said he'd never seen Solo move so well before.  Carrie Ann Inaba was so pumped up by the dance that she asked Solo to give her a hug.  Total score: 27/30.

Solo drew the Avril Lavigne song "The Best Damn Thing" for her instant jive.  Inaba said the routine was an improvement from Solo's previous attempt at the jive.  Goodman declared, "This was fantastic."  Total score: 25/30.  Combined score: 52/60.

-- Ricki Lake and Derek Hough danced the waltz to "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman."  Inaba said she enjoys watching Lake because she loses herself in her dances.  Goodman agreed, saying she flowed like a river.  Total score: 28/30.

Lake did her instant jive to Wilson Pickett's "Land of 1000 Dances."  Inaba and Tonioli both thought it wasn't as smooth as it could've been, leading to Lake apologizing to her fans for letting them down.  Total score: 24/30.  Combined score: 52/60.

-- Nancy Grace and her partner, Tristan MacManus, performed the tango to "The Naughty Lady of Shady Lane."  Tonioli called her a "brazen jezebel."  Inaba said she noticed a little stumble during the dance, but otherwise Grace did a great job.  Total score: 24/30.

Grace didn't do nearly as well in the instant jive, which was set to Paloma Faith's "Upside Down."  Goodman bluntly stated that Grace's run on the show has been a Cinderella story, but "it's midnight and it's time to go home."  The other judges were nicer to Grace, but they didn't exactly give her a ringing endorsement, either.  Total score: 20/30.  Combined score: 44/60.

-- J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff did the waltz to "What the World Needs Now Is Love."  Inaba nearly shed tears as she described how the waltz was magical at times.  Martinez earned the first perfect score of the season.  Total score: 30/30.

Martinez didn't suffer a letdown during a jive to the sounds of Little Richard's "Tutti Frutti."  Bruno yelled that Martinez's timing was impeccable, telling him, "You've got it, man, you've got it!"  Inaba said Martinez was in a class of his own.  Total score: 30/30.  Combined score: 60/60.

One of these celebrities will be sent home Tuesday night on the Dancing with the Stars results show, airing on ABC at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time.  Andrea Bocelli and rapper Flo Rida will be the musical guests.
