Katherine Jackson: Paris Didn't 'Want to Live Without' Michael

Kevin Winter/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) -- In her first television interview since her granddaughter's apparent suicide attempt in June, Katherine Jackson spoke to 60 Minutes Australia, revealing that she believes the 15-year-old tried to take her own life partly because she missed her father.

Paris Jackson, daughter of the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson, overdosed on 20 ibuprofen tablets and cut her arm with a kitchen knife back in early June, 60 Minutes Australia reported, playing the 911 call.

"I think she might have [tried to commit suicide]," Katherine Jackson, 83, told the show. "I don't think she knew how to, but yes it is. But when Michael died, Paris was screaming and crying and saying I want to go with you daddy, I don't want to live without you."

Jackson added that Paris must have been really suffering and "we didn't know it." Indeed, she recalled how hard it was for the little girl to let go when Michael Jackson died in June 2009 from an overdose of propofol.

"They went back in that morgue where Michael was about 10 times," Michael Jackson's mother added.

"Hugging Michael and kissing him and you know he was dead but they were still doing that."

More than just looking back on her granddaughter's struggles, Katherine Jackson also spoke with Hello! magazine for its September issue and said Paris is actually doing "much Better."

"She is in a good place, getting the help she needs," Jackson told the magazine. "The treatment is going good, really good."

Jackson added that the teen is in a residential facility for troubled youngsters getting medical treatment.
