Katy Perry Donating Merchandise Sales to Japan Disaster Relief

Frazer Harrison/Getty Images(AMSTERDAM) -- After urging her fans via Twitter to donate to the Red Cross following the earthquake and tsunami devastation in Japan, Katy Perry is now making her own donation to the cause.

While at a tour stop in Germany on Monday, the singer requested via Twitter that fans buy a certain item from her merchandise booth to benefit relief efforts.

Perry wrote, "If u go by the merchandise stand, purchase a [Katy Perry] light-up wand.  All proceeds will go 2 to #Japanredcross.  And when I play... Firework, let's ignite the light for them tonight."

She added, "I will be doing this for future shows so be ready!!!"

On Tuesday, Perry tweeted to her audience in Amsterdam, "Remember that if u purchase a #CALIFORNIADREAMS light wand, all proceeds will go 2 #JAPANREDCROSS!  LET'S LIGHT IT UP FOR JAPAN!"
