Kellie Pickler: US Troops Connect with Country Music

Jon Kopaloff/FilmMagic(NEW YORK) -- Memorial Day is here and Kellie Pickler is thinking of all the soldiers she's entertained while on her USO tours overseas. After her performances she says they'll often approach her and tell her that the country songs make them feel like they're home.

"Well, it wasn't just me. It's the music," Pickler tells ABC News Radio. "It's country music. It kind of takes you exactly where you want to be."

"Country music is about stories. It's about real-life stories, and people connect with that," she says.

Pickler's new single, "Tough," has just been released to radio.
