'Larry Crowne,' 'Monte Carlo' Open Friday

Comstock Images/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) -- Transformers: Dark of the Moon opened earlier this week, reportedly earning a total of $42.3 million on Tuesday night and Wednesday.

On Friday, it's joined in theaters by two other new films.  Here's a closer look:

-- Larry Crowne: Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts, who previously co-starred in 2007's Charlie Wilson's War, reunite for this story about a middle-aged man who loses his job and enrolls in college, where he develops an attraction to his public speaking teacher.  Hanks also directed the film, which features Bryan Cranston, Cedric the Entertainer, Taraji P. Henson and Wilmer Valderrama.  Rated PG-13.

-- Monte Carlo: Selena Gomez is an American girl in Paris who's mistaken for a socialite.  She, along with two companions, decide to play along and travel to Monte Carlo, where they're treated like royalty.  Leighton Meester, Katie Cassidy, Cory Monteith, and Andie Macdowell also star. Rated PG.
