The movie was inspired by a Washington Post article that featured the life of a black butler who served in the White House.
We're the Millers took the second-place spot for the second weekend in a row. The Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis comedy took in $17.78 million this weekend, according to Hollywood.com.
Matt Damon's action flick Elysium dropped down to the third-place spot, after debuting at number one last weekend.
