(NEW YORK) -- Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones are taking a break from their 13-year marriage.
A rep for the actress confirmed reports of a split to ABC News saying, "Catherine and Michael are taking some time apart to evaluate and work on their marriage. There will be no further comment."
The Hollywood couple even went on vacation separately with their two children -- Douglas has been recently spotted relaxing in Sardinia while Zeta-Jones was home in New York.
Sources told People magazine neither celebrity has filed for legal separation or divorce.
The two spent time apart after Douglas returned from the Cannes Film Festival in May, People reports, soon after Zeta-Jones finished treatment for Bipolar II disorder.
Douglas made headlines in June after an interview was published in the Guardian in which he allegedly said oral sex and HPV caused his recent bout with throat cancer.
His publicist later told ABC News that the actor “never said it was the cause of his particular cancer...He did say oral sex is a suspected cause of certain oral cancers. He did not say it was his specifically...”
