(BERLIN) -- Though Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones have separated, he says the couple is "fine" and not in "crisis."
Addressing the media Monday in Berlin, Germany, where he was promoting his Liberace biopic Behind the Candelabra, Douglas reportedly remarked, "I have a crisis at home? No, I think the press has a crisis. We, we are fine. My wife and I are, are fine."
According to Britain's The Independent, the 68-year-old actor added, "We take a temporary separation, but the press...it gives you stuff to write about."
A rep for the 43-year-old Zeta-Jones revealed last week, "Catherine and Michael are taking some time apart to evaluate and work on their marriage."
The couple has been married since 2000 and has two children together.
