(NEW YORK) -- Model and fashion designer L'Wren Scott, Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger's longtime girlfriend, was found dead Monday morning of an apparent suicide in her apartment in New York City.
ABC News has learned that Scott's assistant discovered the designer's body hanging from a doorknob in the apartment, and called police at 10:05 a.m. ET. Various online sources list Scott's age as 47.
The medical examiner will determine the official cause of Scott's death. No note was found, and no criminality is suspected.
Scott began dating Jagger in 2001. A spokesperson for the rock legend tells ABC News Radio that the singer is "completely shocked and devastated" by the news. The band is currently in Australia, where they're scheduled to kick off a series of shows Wednesday with a concert in Perth.
After a career as a model, the statuesque L'Wren, who stood six-feet, four-inches tall, moved on to designing clothes. During her successful career, she was responsible for creating dresses worn by such celebrities as Madonna, Oprah Winfrey, Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Amy Adams, and Jennifer Lawrence.
In February, Scott announced that she had canceled a planned London Fashion Week show.
