"Modern Family" Child Actor Avoids Negativity on the Internet

ABC/Bob D'Amico(NEW YORK) -- It's long been documented that life can be tough for child actors, but these days they face a new problem that the Gary Colemans of the world didn't have to deal with 30 years ago: the Internet.

Modern Family star Nolan Gould, who plays Luke on ABC's hit comedy, can attest to that. When asked by ABC News Radio to discuss the hardest aspect of growing up on the small screen, the 15-year-old actor mentioned the negativity that can exist on the Internet.

Gould says, "There's a lot of people out there who say bad things, but luckily I try to stay away from that. And I never go out and search my name."

Google isn't Gould's only concern. He says Twitter can be "pretty mean." But, he adds, "Luckily I have some fans that really like me."

Gould is smart enough to stay away from the Internet -- and smart enough in general. He graduated high school at the age of 13 and started college at 14. Plus, he's a member of Mensa, a high IQ society.

Gould has starred on Modern Family since it premiered in 2009. You can catch him on the show Wednesday nights at 9 p.m. Eastern time.
