MTV Airing Music Programming on July 4

PRNewsFoto/MTV Networks International(NEW YORK) -- Yearning for the days when MTV aired music videos?  If so, make sure to settle into your couch on July 4.

MTV and its sister cable networks VH1 and CMT will host a "Music Independence Day" on America's birthday, airing music content, including videos and performances, encompassing all genres from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The networks promise to showcase new artists in addition to popular acts.

Of course, MTV launched in 1981 as a network that aired music videos.  Nowadays, it's known for reality series such as Teen Mom and, until recently, Jersey Shore.
