(NEW YORK) -- NBC has shed some light on the plot of the upcoming one-hour series finale of The Office.
It will take place months after the airing of the Dunder Mifflin documentary, which features the exploits of the paper company's employees throughout the comedy's nine seasons.
The workers will reunite for a wedding, though NBC hasn't identified the characters who are tying the knot. Perhaps it will be Ryan and Kelly, the on-again, off-again couple played by BJ Novak and Mindy Kaling, who left the show prior to the start of the current season but are returning for the finale.
Other guest stars include Rachael Harris, Dakota Johnson, Joan Cusack and Ed Begley Jr.
Steve Carell has stated in interviews that he will not reprise his role of office boss Michael Scott in the farewell episode.
The series finale airs May 16, following a one-hour Office retrospective.
