NBC Telling Stars Not to Appear on "Tonight Show" Rivals?

Lloyd Bishop/NBC(LOS ANGELES) -- The early success of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon has reportedly led to NBC putting pressure on celebrities to not appear on competing late-night programs.

According to TMZ, NBC has let it be known that stars will not be booked as a guest on The Tonight Show if they agree to appear on another network -- that includes both late-night shows and morning programs.

The website says NBC feels emboldened by the strong ratings for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. In the show's second week -- the week of Feb. 24-28 -- it averaged 6.4 million viewers.

The vast majority of the morning and late-night shows on NBC, ABC and CBS are broadcast from New York.
