(NEW YORK) -- The X Factor wasn't much of a factor in the ratings Wednesday night.
The third-season premiere of the Fox singing competition was seen by just 6.2 million viewers, according to TVLine.com. That's a 29-percent decline from last year's debut, and a 50-percent drop from the first-season opener in 2011.
Wednesday's episode of The X Factor was the first for Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio, who join Simon Cowell and Demi Lovato on the judges' panel this season.
The season finale of another Fox competition, MasterChef, aired after The X Factor and drew the same number of viewers: 6.2 million.
