New Miniseries "The Assets" Premieres Thursday Night

ABC/Adam J. Giese(NEW YORK) -- ABC premieres an eight-part miniseries, The Assets, on Thursday night.

Based on a true story, The Assets stars British actress Jodie Whittaker as a CIA counter-intelligence officer in the mid-1980s named Sandy Grimes. Grimes and her partner, Jeanne Vertefeuille, played by Harriet Walter, try to uncover a mole inside the CIA amid the backdrop of the Cold War. The Borgias actor Paul Rhys plays the mole, Aldrich Ames.

The Assets -- based on the book Circle of Treason: A CIA Account of Traitor Aldrich Ames and the Men, by the real-life Sandy Grimes and Jeanne Vertefeuille -- debuts at 10 p.m. Eastern time, following the two-hour season premiere of the cooking competition The Taste.
