One Direction to "Nightline": Nobody's Pulling Our Strings

Dimitrios Kambouris/WireImage(NEW YORK) -- Ahead of the Aug. 30 release of their 3D concert film One Direction: This Is Us, the members of the hottest boy band on the planet right now sat down with ABC's Cynthia McFadden for an interview that will air on Nightline Monday night.

McFadden said to the boys, "...The other beef from old people like me is, 'Are they just being controlled by, you know, Simon Cowell or a bunch of guys in another room somewhere.'" Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne fielded that question.

Louis said, "I think it's so obvious though, if you actually...watch an interview with us, you get the vibe that we are just being ourselves, and again that someone is not just saying, 'You do this this way.' We're just trying to be ourselves. I think that's pretty obvious, isn't it? Liam laughed, "I think sometimes people wish they had that control over us, but I just don't think that's possible."

Nightline airs at 12:37 a.m. Tuesday Eastern time on ABC.
