Original Voice of Charlie Brown Sent to Rehab

Valerie Macon/Getty Images(SAN DIEGO) -- The former voice of Charlie Brown, who was arrested in January and later pleaded guilty to threatening his former girlfriend and stalking her plastic surgeon, was sentenced Wednesday to one year in jail.

However, The San Diego Union-Tribune reports, Peter Robbins was released from custody to a residential drug treatment center.  Robbins, who was credited with 220 days served in jail, will spend at least eight months in rehab.

Robbins, 56, was also placed on probation for five years.  He could face prison time if he violates the terms of his probation.

The judge presiding over the case warned Robbins, "Don't be a blockhead," evoking a term commonly used by Peanuts characters to refer to Charlie Brown.

Robbins, who voiced Charlie Brown in the classic 1965 special A Charlie Brown Christmas as well as five other Peanuts programs, pleaded guilty last month.

Prosecutors had said Robbins had a domestic dispute with his then-girlfriend over her breast enhancement surgery, during which he injured her.  He also left 45 voicemail messages for her, according to authorities.

Robbins was also accused of threatening to kill her plastic surgeon if he did not receive a refund for the surgery.
