Pia Toscano Voted Off in 'American Idol' Shocker

PRNewsFoto/Zumobi(LOS ANGELES) -- The American Idol audience erupted in boos and jeers as Pia Toscano was voted off on Thursday's results show.

Judge Jennifer Lopez was visibly shocked and angered by the result, as were Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson, who said Toscano was one of the best singers in the competition.  He added that he rarely got angry at American Idol results, but that this time was an exception.  Tyler bluntly declared that America got it wrong.

Toscano said goodbye with a performance of "I'll Stand by You" by The Pretenders.  Jacob Lusk and Stefano Langone were in the bottom three, but they'll be around next week.

American Idol's top eight perform on next Wednesday's show at 8:00 p.m. ET on Fox.  Kelly Clarkson will return on next Thursday's results show to perform her number-one country hit with Jason Aldean, "Don't You Wanna Stay."
