Pre-"Friends" Jennifer Aniston: Will My Career 'Ever Happen?'

Barry King/Liaison/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) -- Before she became an A-list actress as one of the stars of the NBC sitcom Friends, Jennifer Aniston openly questioned the future of her career.

In a new book from former NBC President Warren Littlefield, the author recalls running into a pre-Friends Aniston at a gas station in Hollywood. At that point, Aniston had appeared in NBC's poorly-received TV adaptation of Ferris Bueller's Day Off as well as various pilots.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Littlefield recalls in the book that Aniston asked him, "Will it ever happen for me?" Littlefield says he thought to himself, "God, I wanted it to."

Littlefield's book, Top of the Rock: Inside the Rise and Fall of Must See TV, is excerpted in the May issue of Vanity Fair. The article reveals, among other things, that Friends was originally titled Six of One.

The book will be released May 1.
