(LOS ANGELES) -- Jerry Bruckheimer, the producer behind the Pirates of the Caribbean films, Top Gun and Beverly Hills Cop, as well as the TV hit CSI, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday.
Johnny Depp was among the celebrities in attendance at the ceremony. He has a strong connection to Bruckheimer -- he's played Captain Jack Sparrow in four Pirates movies, and he fills the role of Tonto in Bruckheimer's upcoming film The Lone Ranger.
Depp said on Monday, "Without Jerry there would be no Pirates, there would be no Captain Jack. Without Jerry there would be no revived Lone Ranger, there would be no reinvigorated Tonto. So I have a lot to thank him for."
Top Gun star Tom Cruise and Disney CEO Bob Iger also were on hand as Bruckheimer received the 2,501th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Bruckheimer told the crowd the honor was "almost unimaginable" to him, given the legends who are recognized on the sidewalk.
