Prosecutor Says Doctor's Defense Will Argue Michael Jackson Killed Himself

Photo Courtesy - PRNewsFoto(LOS ANGELES) -- Defense attorneys for Michael Jackson's former doctor, who's been charged in connection with the King of Pop's death, will argue that Jackson killed himself, according to a Los Angeles prosecutor.

KTLA-TV reports that Los Angeles Deputy District Attorney David Walgren made the claim during a hearing Wednesday in Los Angeles in the Dr. Conrad Murray case.  He said, "I do think it's clear that the defense is operating under the theory that the victim, Michael Jackson, killed himself."

Defense attorney J. Michael Flanagan didn't comment to reporters outside of court regarding potential strategies by Murray's defense team.  However, inside the courthouse, Flanagan said Jackson's system contained a far greater amount of the powerful anesthetic propofol than Murray says he gave the singer.

Jackson died of acute propofol intoxication.

Wednesday's hearing focused on who should test residue from two syringes found in Jackson's bedroom.  A preliminary hearing to determine whether there's enough evidence to put Murray on trial will begin Jan. 4.  He's pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter.
