Report: "CSI" Star Will Miss Several Episodes After Fight with Writer

Frederick M. Brown/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- CSI star George Eads will be conspicuously absent from the CBS drama at times this fall.

The Hollywood Reporter says Eads, who plays Nick Stokes, will take a leave of absence following what it describes as a "heated exchange" with a staff writer.

Apparently, Eads was upset with the direction of his character, resulting in the argument with the writer, who was eight months pregnant. Later, he met with an executive producer and threatened to quit.

A statement from producer CBS Television Studios to The Hollywood Reporter reads, "George Eads will not appear in several episodes during the first half of the season. We look forward to him returning to CSI very soon."

Eads will appear in the first three episodes of the new season, which begins Sept. 25. It's unclear when he'll be back on the show after that.

Eads, an original cast member, was briefly fired from CSI, along with co-star Jorja Fox, in 2004 over a reported salary dispute.
