Report: Lindsay Lohan Expected to Get Probation in Theft Case

AL SEIB/AFP/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) -- Lindsay Lohan will reportedly avoid jail time and is expected to receive probation when she pleads no contest to a misdemeanor theft charge on Wednesday.

Lohan is accused of stealing a necklace from a Venice, California jewelry store in January. quotes sources as saying an attorney for the Mean Girls star met with a prosecutor and Judge Stephanie Sautner on Monday to discuss the case, and all parties agreed to keep Lohan out of jail.

The website quotes a source as saying, “Lindsay knows she dodged a major bullet.  She doesn’t like the fact she’ll be on probation for another year, but it beats being in state prison.”

Lohan is currently performing some 400 hours of community service for violating her probation for a pair of 2007 DUI convictions.  She was also sentenced to 120 days in jail for the violation, but is appealing that penalty.

RadarOnline reports that Judge Sautner is expected to allow Lohan to serve the 120 days at home if she wears an ankle bracelet to monitor her whereabouts, and will also allow her to work on movies during the day.
