Report: Michael Jackson's Estate Pitches Biopic

ABC/Bob D'Amico(LOS ANGELES) -- Michael Jackson's estate is interested in telling the late singer's life story on the big screen.

Variety reports an executor of the estate is in early talks with Stripes and Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman's production company about producing and financing a film based on certain periods of the King of Pop's life.

Even if both sides reach a deal, Variety implies that production on the film would not get underway for a while, since the estate is keeping busy with Cirque du Soleil's recently launched, Michael Jackson-inspired touring show.

Jackson last appeared on the big screen in the 2009 concert film Michael Jackson's This Is It, which documented the rehearsals for his planned London concerts that were eventually cancelled due to his death. The film made over $72 million at the domestic box office.
