(LOS ANGELES) -- The man allegedly beaten up by Scandal actor Columbus Short in a bar confrontation last month has refused to press charges against the star, TMZ.com reports.
An attorney for the alleged victim tells the gossip website he’s been in touch with Short’s management in an effort to reach a private settlement. TMZ says the victim has informed law enforcement investigators he doesn’t want to pursue criminal charges against the actor.
TMZ reported last month that Short allegedly attacked the man at Gabe’s Bar and Grill in Los Angeles on March 15 for making a rude comment about his wife. Authorities say Short allegedly struck the man and knocked him out.
The 31-year-old actor, who plays Harrison Wright on the ABC series, was arrested a week later and released on $50,000 bail. He faces one count of felony battery with serious bodily injury.
The lawyer tells TMZ the alleged victim wants to resolve the matter as amicably as possible because the incident occurred at a family engagement party and both men have close ties with the same people.
The victim reportedly suffered a concussion, a facial fracture and neck and back injuries.
