(NEW YORK) -- The well-connected pop culture site Latino-Review claims it has a double-barreled scoop regarding Star Wars: Episode VII.
The site reports that both Zac Efron and Ryan Gosling have been approached to star in Disney's first Star Wars film -- and that a third star passed for another fanboy favorite film.
According to the site, Efron's prospective role isn't known, but it's confident producers wanted Gosling to read for the part of Luke Skywalker's son, in the film that reportedly takes place 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi.
What's more, the site claims director J.J. Abrams had Leonardo DiCaprio in mind for an Episode VII role, but the actor turned it down to pursue a live-action, big-screen version of the beloved Japanese anime series Robotech. That saga had humans taking to the skies in transforming robotic battle suits to defend against alien invaders. Previous attempts to adapt Robotech have fizzled in the past.
There's nothing official on either rumor, but the site has a decent track record with delivering accurate scoops regarding Man of Steel and other fanboy films.
