Rod Stewart Admits Faking His UK Driving Test

ABC News Radio(LONDON) -- In his recent memoir Rod: The Autobiography, Rod Stewart writes about his passion for fast cars, but now the singer admits to faking his U.K. driving test.

Stewart tells The Sun he got a roadie to take the exam in 1967 and adds, “To this day I have never taken a driving test in Britain.”

The 68-year-old Stewart says roadie Pete Saunders volunteered to take the test in the rocker's place after growing tired of driving him around.

“Pete set off to the test center, signed in as Mr. Roderick Stewart of Highgate and took my test,” Stewart says.  “And I passed, I’m pleased to say.”

The veteran singer tells the newspaper he drove illegally in the U.K. for the next eight years until he took a test for a driver's license in the United States and passed.  Stewart drives in the U.K. with his U.S. license.
