Sacha Baron Cohen 'Kills' Elderly Presenter at Awards Show

Jason LaVeris/FilmMagic/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) -- Sacha Baron Cohen pulled off one of his trademark pranks at the BAFTA Los Angeles Britannia Awards in Beverly Hills on Saturday night.

The Borat and Bruno star was on hand to accept The Charlie Chaplin Britannia Award for Excellence in Comedy, which was presented by Salma Hayek and a woman introduced as 87-year-old Grace Collington. The latter was billed as the oldest surviving actor to have worked with Charlie Chaplin in a silent movie.

When Cohen took the stage, the wheelchair-bound Collington presented him with one of Chaplin's canes, which he used to mimic the legendary actor's walk. He then attempted to lean on the cane, but it snapped, and he "accidentally" pushed Collington's wheelchair. Collington flew off the stage as the crowd gasped.

Eventually the audience members wised up to the prank and laughed. Cohen joked, "She’ll probably make the Oscars' 'In Memoriam' section."

The BAFTA Los Angeles Britannia Awards honored "individuals and companies who have dedicated their careers to advancing the entertainment arts." The other honorees were George Clooney, Benedict Cumberbatch, Idris Elba, Kathryn Bigelow and Ben Kingsley. The event aired as a special on BBC America Sunday night.
