Salma Hayek: 'I'm Nobody's Barbie'

Venturelli/WireImage(NEW YORK) -- Salma Hayek strives to be an independent woman. Though she's married to French billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault, the actress says she prefers to be financially independent. She tells Redbook magazine, "I don't ever want to have to depend on anyone completely. But when I have troubles sometimes, it's nice to have someone there to help."

Hayek's husband is the president of PPR, which owns the Gucci Group, but he doesn't have too much say over the clothes she wears. She says, "I'm still a Mexican. I like to play fashion with him, but I'm nobody's Barbie."
