Sean Kingston's Condition Upgraded Following Jet Ski Accident

Alberto E. Rodriguez/Getty Images for Paramount Pictures(MIAMI) -- Just more than a week after a jet ski accident sent Sean Kingston to the trauma unit of a Miami hospital, a spokesperson for the singer says Kingston's condition continues to improve.

"His condition has been upgraded to serious," a Sony Music rep said in a statement Monday. "Sean is breathing on his own and walked for the first time this morning."

Kingston was rushed to Miami's Jackson Memorial Hospital the night of May 29 after a personal watercraft he was riding on crashed into a bridge.

According to ABC News affiliate WPLG-TV in Miami, Kingston collided with the bridge that connects Miami Beach's Palm Island to the MacArthur Causeway around 6 p.m. Upon impact, the 21-year-old singer and a female passenger were ejected from the watercraft and landed in the water, said Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission spokesman Jorge Pino.

Both Kingston, who's known for his hits "Beautiful Girls" and "Fire Burning," and the passenger were hospitalized with injuries.

The cause of the crash was not immediately known, but Pino said at the time, "Nothing at this point would indicate that alcohol played a role in this accident."
