(NEW YORK) -- Actor/comedian John Pinette, who gained fame playing the fat guy who gets carjacked on the series finale of Seinfeld, has entered rehab for treatment of an addiction to prescription medication, the Daily Mail reports.
A rep for the Ontario gambling resort Caesars Windsor where Pinette was scheduled to appear next month said the 49-year-old comic postponed his appearance because he was checking into a rehab center. According to the Daily Mail, the resort said Pinette got hooked on pain medication following surgery earlier this year.
Pinette tweeted his fans, saying, “Thanks to everyone for your concern and well wishes.”
In the finale, Jerry, Elaine, George and Kramer are standing on a street in Latham, Mass., when they see Pinette’s character get carjacked. They crack jokes and do nothing to help him and later get arrested for breaking the town’s “Good Samaritan law.”
