"Seinfeld's" Wayne Knight, "Family Ties'" Brian Bonsall Not Dead

Jason LaVeris/FilmMagic(LOS ANGELES) -- Former Seinfeld star Wayne Knight and former Family Ties actor Brian Bonsall are apparently the latest victims of Internet death hoaxes.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, pranksters launched parody TMZ and Us Weekly sites claiming Knight had been killed and two passengers injured "after their vehicle slammed into a disabled semi-tractor trailer late Sunday night along Route 446 near the Pennsylvania-New York border in Eldred Township."

The 58-year-old actor, best known for his role as Newman on Seinfeld, immediately squashed the reports, tweeting Sunday, "Some of you will be glad to hear this, others strangely disappointed, but…I am alive and well!"

A short time later he added, "Does someone have to DIE to trend? Geez! Thanks for all the love everybody. I didn’t know you cared. Glad to be breathing!" He also apologized to friends and family who were shocked by the "supposed" accident.

Meanwhile, The Hollywood Reporter notes the 32-year-old Bonsall, who played Andy, the youngest son in the Keaton family on Family Ties, was the target of a fake Us Weekly report.  The article cited a Torrance, Calif., police report and claimed the former child actor "was found dead in his Cabrillo Hotel room around 11 a.m." The story also claimed "Bosnall was discovered by housekeeping staff after he failed to return his hotel key card after his check-out time."

Bonsall wrote on Twitter this past Sunday, "Well apparently i'm dead, lol but I'll have you know I'm doing well and enjoying a cup of coffee at home."
