Stars React to Roger Ebert’s Death

Frazer Harrison/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Famous fans of famed movie critic Roger Ebert are reacting to the news of his death.

“Roger Ebert. Millions of thumbs up for you. RIP,” Oscar-winning filmmaker Michael Moore wrote on Twitter Thursday.

That was echoed by Alyssa Milano -- “Rest in peace, Roger Ebert! You were an inspiration” -- and Tom Arnold -- “I loved Roger Ebert. He was a fan of film. Smart and fair. Sad.”

Zooey Deschanel wrote, "RIP Roger Ebert - whose great love of cinema inspired us all. He will be missed."

The Office star Rainn Wilson tweeted that he began watching Ebert in 1984, adding, “He was a good man & a fierce advocate for great film.”

Holly Robinson Peete wrote, “All my prayers to Chaz -his beautiful and stoic wife.”

Carson Daly also sent prayers out to Ebert’s family. “SO FAST! Praying for his family,” he tweeted.

“Finest person i’ve met in this industry. R.I.P. Roger Ebert A film critic with the soul of a poet,” actress Annabella Sciorra wrote.

Director Darren Aronofsky tweeted, “We lost a thoughtful writer. I remember my first review from him...it was a career highlight.”

Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody wrote, “R.I.P. Roger Ebert. It was a privilege to interact with you. Thank you for the support, the criticism, and the true love for the movies.”

Ebert died Thursday, just a day after the Pulitzer Prize-winning film critic announced that he was taking a “leave of presence” after the “painful fracture” that made it difficult for him to walk turned out to be cancer.
