Duggar Family Extortion Plot?

TLC/Beth Hall(DES MOINES, Iowa) -- An Iowa photographer has been charged with extortion for allegedly threatening to sell racy photos of a 19 Kids and Counting cast member if TLC did not cancel the show.

According to the Des Moines Register, the FBI claims Teresa Sullivan Hunt sent a letter to TLC’s parent company, Discovery Communications, in early January, demanding it either pull the plug on 19 Kids and Counting or pay her $10,000. According to an FBI affidavit, she allegedly said if Discovery did not comply with her demands, she would sell photos of a cast member, “in apparently intimate situations with a musician” who performs in Missouri.

Referring to 19 Kids and Counting parents Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, Hunt’s alleged letter said they “claim to be so Christian so they keep popping out more babies to keep their ratings up. Meanwhile [two names redacted by the FBI] are doing the nasty behind closed doors.”

The cast member allegedly featured in the pictures has been identified by as 25-year-old Amy Duggar, a cousin of family patriarch Jim Bob Duggar. She denies allegations that she’s involved with the musician, telling the website, “It’s totally untrue. He is a longtime family friend who has always been supportive of my music career. He’s a good Christian and it’s upsetting that his generosity has been exploited like this.” says Hunt offered to sell the website the pictures, which it describes as “merely harmless snaps.” The website says it had no knowledge of Hunt’s alleged blackmail scheme.

Duggar Family Copes with Loss of Jubilee

Beth Hall/TLC(SPRINGDALE, Ark.) -- Michelle Duggar, who recently miscarried her 20th pregnancy, spoke with People magazine about how she explained the loss to her 7-year-old son, Jackson.

“I told him there is going to be a day when we are going to be together again,” said Duggar, whose super-sized family stars in a reality TV show on TLC. “As the days go on, I know we will have time to talk through all this. I have been trying to hold my composure and do what I needed to do, and then be able to grieve.”

In the family’s hometown of Springdale, Ark., last Wednesday, hundreds attended a memorial service for the stillborn baby girl, posthumously named Jubilee Shalom Duggar.

At the service, Michelle Duggar told People that even the older children were struggling. She said that Jill, 20, who is studying to be a midwife and had been charting the baby’s growth and heartbeat, “was crying and weeping. I hugged her and said, ‘I am holding on, and I am going to let the tears go. We can pray, cry and grieve together in the weeks and days we walk through this.’”

The mother of 19 has leaned on her children too. “My older girls have been precious to make Momma take care of Momma right now, and Jim Bob has been busy taking care of everything,” she told People.

Despite the loss, the family plans to celebrate its December birthdays: Josie was 2 on Dec. 10, Jordyn turned 3 on Dec. 18, Jinger turns 18 on Dec. 21, and twins Jedidiah and Jeremiah will be 13 on Dec. 30.

“Our calendar is cleared off, and we are going to take time to talk and pray and cry,” Michelle Duggar says. “This is going to be a time for our family to just be together.”

The family stirred controversy when photos of the stillborn baby along with the legend, “There is no foot too small that it cannot leave an imprint on this world,” were leaked last week.

The Duggars contacted Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep, a nonprofit organization that helps families deal with miscarriage and loss of their babies, to take photos the family could keep and use at the memorial service, according to People.  A family representative said the photos were intended for private use only and that some were released without the Duggars’ consent.

'19 Kids and Counting' Stars Name Unborn Child, Plan Memorial Service

TLC/Beth Hall(LOS ANGELES) -- Reality TV stars Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar plan to hold a memorial service for the child that would have been their 20th, had Michelle not miscarried last week during her second trimester of pregnancy, the couple announced.

The Duggars, stars of the TLC hit reality show 19 Kids and Counting, also revealed they’d planned to name their baby daughter Jubilee Shalom Duggar, in keeping with the family tradition of beginning all their children’s names with the letter ”J.”

According to a report in People magazine, the family plans to hold a memorial service for Jubilee this Wednesday for friends and family members. The family, the magazine reports, already held its own private service in its home Sunday night.

“We would like to thank everyone for their prayers, emails and outpouring of love,” Jim Bob wrote in a letter given to People.  “As our whole family is grieving, we also know that God promises to work all things for good in our lives. Our prayer is that Jubilee’s passing will help us all realize that this life is short, and our relationship with Jesus is the most important thing.”

The couple announced last week they had learned of the miscarriage during a routine doctor’s appointment.

“I feel like my heart broke, telling my children,” Michelle Duggar, 45, told People at the time. “They have all been so excited about this baby and looking forward to April coming around and having a new little one in our arms. That was the most difficult.”

Michelle Duggar was cared for by family members at home after the diagnosis, but was taken to a nearby hospital on Sunday after she reported feeling lightheaded.

A family spokesperson told People that she was expected to return to the family’s Tontitown, Ark., home on Monday.
