Adele's '21' Still on Top, But Lady Gaga Will Take Over Next Week

Columbia Records(NEW YORK) -- Adele's album 21 spends yet another week at number one on the Billboard album chart.

All told, it's been on the top for nine non-consecutive weeks.  In the history of the Billboard album chart, only 11 other albums by female artists have logged that much time at the top.

But 21 is not expected to be on top for much longer.  Lady Gaga's new album Born This Way is expected to blast onto the chart next week with projected first-week sales of 800,000 to 850,000 copies.

Adele Still Has Number One Album and Single

Columbia Records(NEW YORK) -- Adele is still on a roll, as her single "Rolling in the Deep" spends a second week at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

Meanwhile, over on the album chart, her CD 21 is sitting at number one for an eighth week. That's the longest run at the top for any album since 2009.  21 has sold 1.7 million copies so far, making it the only album of 2011 so far to achieve platinum status.

"Rolling in the Deep" also appears on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 29, in a version by the Glee cast.  It's one of six songs that the cast charted this week.

Adele's Ex Demands Royalties for Breaking Her Heart

ROBYN BECK/AFP/Getty Images(LONDON) -- As Adele has said in a number of interviews, the songs on her #1 album 21 were inspired by her breakup with a boyfriend.  But the songs on her debut album, 19, were  inspired by a different guy who broke her heart -- and now he wants to get his.  According to the British tabloid The Sun, since 19 recently re-entered the British chart thanks to the success of 21, the unnamed boyfriend has popped up and is demanding royalties.

The paper quotes Adele as saying, "For about a week, he was calling and was deadly serious about it.  Finally, I said, 'Well, you made my life hell, and so I lived it, and now I deserve it.'"  She adds, "I'll give him this credit -- he made me an adult and put me on the road that I'm traveling."

Adele's '21' Scores a Sixth Week at Number One

Columbia Records(NEW YORK) -- Adele's album 21 should change its name to number one, because that seems to be its permanent home.

The album has scored its sixth non-consecutive week in the top spot of the Billboard Top 200 album chart.  Only four other albums in the last 10 years have spent as many weeks at number one: Taylor Swift's Fearless and Speak Now, Norah Jones' Feels Like Home and Susan Boyle's I Dreamed a Dream.

Adele will kick off her U.S. tour May 12 in Washington, D.C.

Adele Smashes Chart Records with '21'

Columbia Records(NEW YORK) -- Adele continues to rewrite British chart history thanks to her album 21.

Billboard reports that the disc has now spent 10 weeks at number one on the UK album chart, making it the only album by a female solo artist ever to stay on top for that long.  In addition, 21 has now topped the U.K. chart longer than any other album since Dire Straits' Brothers in Arms, back in 1986.

21 is also the first album in U.K. chart history to sell over 100,000 copies a week for each of the 10 weeks it's been in stores.  In the UK alone, the disc has now sold 1.754 million copies.

Adele Matches Madonna UK Chart Record with New CD

Columbia Records(LONDON) -- Adele's new album 21 has done very well on the chart in the U.S., but in the singer's home country of England, it's a record breaker.

According to the BBC, 21 has now spent nine weeks at number one on the UK album chart.  The other only female solo artist who's ever stayed at number one that long has been Madonna, with her 1990 best-of album The Immaculate Collection.

If Adele's album stays on top for an additional week, she'll hold the all-time record.

In addition, Adele's song "Someone Like You" is number one on the UK single chart, and she has two other singles in the top 40.
