(LONG BEACH, Calif.) -- Stephen Moyer, the star of HBO's True Blood, pulled out of Saturday's 35th Annual Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race after having a close call one day earlier, reports UsMagazine.com.
The actor was lucky to walk away unharmed after flipping his car during the qualifying round of the race in Long Beach, California on Friday.
Moyer explained at a news conference after the qualifying session, "I was really thinking about the charity. I'm not as concerned with winning the race as I was about winning today so my charity, Racing for Kids, would get an extra $15,000 donation. It was a surreal experience, it felt like a roller-coaster ride when my car flipped."
Despite the wreck, Moyer scored the top qualifying time, giving him the pole position in Saturday's race. However, Moyer's rep released a statement on Saturday saying, "After much thought and consideration, and at the request of his producers," Moyer has decided to drop out of the race.
Actor William Fichtner, who's appeared in Black Hawk Down and The Perfect Storm, won the contest.
