Report: Beyonce Drops Out of Clint Eastwood Film

Jim McIsaac/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Beyonce has bowed out of Clint Eastwood's A Star Is Born remake, according to Variety. Earlier this year, reports revealed that A Star Is Born had been pushed back in part because of Beyonce's pregnancy.

Now Variety reports that the movie's male lead hasn't been locked in, and that's holding things up.  Though Warner Bros. had no official comment, Variety reports that sources say without a set start date, Bey's busy schedule would become too complicated for her.

With Beyonce out, another music star may be in.  Variety reports that jazz musician and singer Esperanza Spaulding has been eyeing the role of the up-and-coming performer who falls for an older, has-been star.

Discussions of who'll replace Bey are on hold though until a male lead has been secured.

Knowles’ publicist did not immediately return ABC News’ request for comment.

Tom Cruise to Join Beyonce in "A Star Is Born" Remake?

ABC/RICK ROWELL(NEW YORK) -- Will Beyonce's new co-star in Clint Eastwood's remake of A Star Is Born be ... Tom Cruise? reports that the superstar actor is in talks to appear in the movie as the male lead: an over-the-hill musician who helps launch the career of an up-and-coming star -- that's Beyonce -- and then falls in love with her.

According to Deadline, Cruise has already proved that he can handle the singing required of the role, because he recently portrayed an '80s rock icon in the forthcoming musical Rock of Ages. Though the start of the film was delayed due to Beyonce's pregnancy, Deadline now says that Blue Ivy's mom will be ready to start shooting as early as June.

The A Star Is Born reboot has been in the works for a while, and over the years, everyone from Will Smith and Eminem to Christian Bale and Russell Crowe have been mentioned for the part Cruise is now eyeing, Deadline reports.
