Entries in Anne Hathaway (31)

Anne Hathaway 'Living on Hummus and Radishes'

Warner Bros. Pictures(NEW YORK) -- There are diets and then there are diets.

Take, for example, actress Anne Hathaway, who in preparation to fit into her Catwoman suit for The Dark Knight Rises and play the tuberculosis-ridden prostitute Fantine in the upcoming film version of Les Miserables, the 29-year-old actress subsisted on a 500 calorie diet of radishes and hummus.

"I'm on day six of detox," she told the latest issue of Allure magazine, adding "this diet makes me break out, so I love that. Nothing like living on hummus and radishes and then be all, 'And I got a pimple. Yeah!'"

On top of that, she's been working out.

"The Catwoman suit. It was a psychological terrorist," she said. "... the suit, thoughts of my suit, changing my life so I would fit into that suit ... it dominated my year. I went into the gym for 10 months and didn't come out."

Anne Hathaway Showcases Shorter Locks

Jim Spellman/WireImage(LONDON) -- Anne Hathaway’s new role in Les Miserables has apparently gone to her head. The actress, who plays Fantine, a woman who sells her hair and her body to feed her kids, was spotted coming out of a London club early Sunday morning wearing the closely-shorn hair she’ll apparently sport on screen in the musical adaptation of the Broadway hit.

The UK Mirror reported last month that Hathaway previously went on a “crash diet” to convincingly portray her character on her deathbed. Her rep denied the report.

The adaptation, which also stars Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe, is scheduled to open on Dec. 14.

Anne Hathaway Not on 500-Calorie-a-Day Diet for "Les Miserables"

Jim Spellman/WireImage(LONDON) -- Anne Hathaway isn't on a "miserables" diet while working on her next film.

Britain's Daily Mirror claims Hathaway is eating fewer than 500 calories per day because she was ordered by movie executives to lose 16 pounds in less than 20 days for certain scenes in Les Miserables. She plays the single mother and prostitute Fantine.

Hathaway's rep denies the report, telling E! News, "She is losing weight for the part, but not that much. Just enough for her to look more frail, as she is playing a dying prostitute. She is consuming more than 500 calories. [The tabloids] are making something of nothing, as usual."

Hathaway will be seen on the big screen this summer in The Dark Knight Rises. She plays Catwoman.

Who Is Anne Hathaway’s Fiance, Adam Shulman?

Jim Spellman/WireImage(LOS ANGELES) -- Twenty-nine-year-old actress Anne Hathaway revealed her engagement to Adam Shulman, 30, on Monday. The two have been dating since 2008.

And yet, Shulman’s managed to fly under the radar. Here are four things to know about the perpetual princess’ Prince Charming:

1. He’s also an actor. He starred in the short-lived TV drama American Dreams in 2005 and played Youth Voter #1 in a 2006 episode of The West Wing. He majored in theater at Brown University, from which he graduated in 2003.

2. He designs jewelry. Shulman co-launched a jewelry line, James Banks, earlier this year. The James Banks website currently features a “Lightkeeper” necklace for $1,100 and a handful of butterfly necklaces for $200 to $700. He also reportedly had a hand in designing Hathaway’s Kwiat engagement ring.

3. He caught her by surprise. In August, Hathaway told People magazine that Shulman caught her off guard. “I am very much in love with him, [only] Adam totally ruined my plan,” she said. “I was really actually looking forward to a little alone time, and then I fell in love like a fool!”

4. He’s “mellow.” “Mellow doesn’t always make for a good story, but it makes for a good life,” Hathaway told Harper’s Bazaar earlier this year. She added that the couple “hit it off immediately, but it took us a pretty long time to get together.” No wonder she eased into it: Before Shulman, Hathaway dated Italian entrepreneur Raffaello Follieri, who pled guilty in 2008 to swindling investors out of millions.

Anne Hathaway Engaged to Adam Shulman

Jim Spellman/WireImage(NEW YORK) -- It’s official: Anne Hathaway is engaged. The 29-year-old Oscar-nominated actress is engaged to actor-jewelry designer Adam Shulman, her rep confirms to Us Weekly.

Hathaway was recently seen wearing an engagement ring, which, her rep told Us, is designed by Kwiat Heritage.

Hathaway began dating Shulman, 30, following the messy end of her four-year romance with Italian entrepreneur Raffaello Follieri in 2008. Follieri pled guilty in September 2008 to swindling investors out of millions in an elaborate con in which he posed as a real estate consultant for the Vatican.
