Report: 'Bachelorette's' Ben Will Be the Next 'Bachelor' Star

ABC/MATT KLITSCHER(LOS ANGELES) -- The man who was dumped by The Bachelorette star Ashley Hebert on the season finale of the ABC series this summer may receive a second chance at TV love. Us Weekly reports Ben Flajnik, a California winemaker, will star on the 2012 season of The Bachelor.

Ashley chose J.P. Rosenbaum over Ben in The Bachelorette season finale. Ben reportedly went on a date with actress Jennifer Love Hewitt earlier this month.

A rep for The Bachelor would only tell People magazine that an announcement regarding the next "Bachelor" will be made during the Bachelor Pad season finale on September 12.

'Bachelorette' Ashley Accepts Proposal from J.P.

Donald B. Kravitz/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) -- Ashley Hebert, a 26-year-old aspiring dentist who lives in Philadelphia, accepted a marriage proposal from J.P., a 34-year-old construction manager from Long Island, New York, on Monday’s season finale of ABC's The Bachelorette. J.P. popped the question after Ashley turned down a proposal from the other finalist, 28-year-old winemaker Ben F. of Sonoma, California.

Ashley’s decision was somewhat surprising, given that J.P. was depicted as the underdog throughout the seventh-season finale. Her older sister, Chrystie, clearly favored Ben over J.P. -– something that weighed heavily on Ashley’s mind before she went on her final dates with both men.

Ashley was distraught by her sister's assessment of J.P. He may have turned the tide back in his favor during their solo date, when he told her he loved her and presented her with a diary in which he shared his feelings for her.

Not that Ashley’s date with Ben wasn’t romantic. After the two enjoyed a mud bath together, he confided to Ashley, “I’m in love with you.”

At the start of final rose ceremony of the season, Ashley came face to face with Ben, who got down on one knee and proposed. After a long silence, Ashley closed his hands, which held the engagement ring. She said it wasn’t easy for her to make her decision.

After Ashley broke things off with Ben, she welcomed J.P. to the rose ceremony. Before he popped the question, Ashley told him that she wanted to spend the rest of her life with him. She then accepted his proposal and presented him with the final rose.

The engaged couple revealed on the After the Final Rose special that they plan on moving in together in New York City but have yet to set a wedding date. Ashley said they just want “a humble, normal life” together. Though they won’t get married in the near future, the show gave them a generous wedding gift: a return trip to Fiji.

The 26-year-old was with fiancé Roberto Martinez when their kayak capsized.

On her Twitter page Monday, Fedotowsky, who now serves as a correspondent for the Fox-TV affiliate in San Diego, wrote, "Thanks so much everyone for your concern.  Big headache, but managed to hide staples w/hair part and I am back at work this morning."
