Movie Review: ‘Bad Teacher’

Ablestock/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) -- In Bad Teacher, Cameron Diaz's Elizabeth Halsey is a money-grubbing, pot-smoking alcoholic who says she just wants a "boob job," and really, what's so bad about that?

When we first meet Elizabeth, she thinks she's leaving her job as a middle school English teacher to marry her very rich fiance. In one of the movie’s funnier scenes, her opera-loving fiance dumps her -- which means she's forced to go back to teaching.

Elizabeth runs into Amy Squirrel, the goody-two-shoes annoying teacher across the hall, who instantly becomes her nemesis. Then she meets Justin Timberlake's handsome and very wealthy substitute teacher, Scott Delacorte, and decides upgraded cleavage is absolutely necessary if she wants to be in sync with him.

Bad Teacher isn't the funniest movie you'll ever see but this is one of Diaz's better performances.  Her supporting cast, most notably Lucy Punch, Phyllis Smith and Jason Segel, also supply an ample amount of laugh-out-loud moments.

Three and a half out of five stars.
