(LOS ANGELES) -- Is a child custody battle brewing between Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz? TMZ reports that Pete has filed papers with the L.A. County Superior Court, asking for joint physical and legal custody of his and Ashlee's two year-old son, Bronx. According to TMZ, Pete's filing came in reaction to Ashlee's divorce filing, in which she stated that she wanted primary physical custody of the child.
However, People says there's no real feud between the divorcing couple, who previously stated that they "remain friends and deeply committed and loving parents." A source told People, "There's no fire. It's a very straightforward response asking for joint custody and fair distribution of attorney's fees. He's not gearing up for a custody war."
TMZ has also reported that Pete and Ashlee are disputing who should pay the legal fees. Pete wants each party to cover their own costs while Ashlee has asked the court to rule that Pete pay for everything.
