Jennifer Lopez Says She Still Believes in Love

PRNewsFoto/L'Oreal Paris(NEW YORK) -- In her first interview since announcing that she and Marc Anthony are divorcing, Jennifer Lopez tells Vanity Fair that she still believes in love.

“I remain an eternal optimist about love. I believe in love...It’s still my biggest dream. I am positive -- determined to move forward with my life, bring up my babies, and do the best job I can as a mother, entertainer, and person. I now look forward to new challenges. I feel strong.”

In the article, Lopez opens up about her life with Anthony and the example she hopes to set for her children. She also touches on her relationship with Sean P.Diddy Combs and Ben Affleck, the diva rumors that surround her and her attitude toward money, fame, and of course, love.

She describes the path that has brought her to her current state of mind. “It’s not that I didn’t love myself before. Sometimes we don’t realize that we are compromising ourselves. To understand that a person is not good for you, or that that person is not treating you in the right way, or that he is not doing the right thing for himself -- if I stay, then I am not doing the right thing for me. I love myself enough to walk away from that now.”

“I will always respect Marc as a singer and performer,” Lopez tells Vanity Fair. “We actually work great together, and he was always very supportive. Together we could make magic -- and we did. He will always be in our lives. He will always hold a special place in my heart as the father of my children.”

Did Ben Affleck Help J-Lo End Her Marriage to Marc Anthony?

Frederick M. Brown/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) -- Jennifer Lopez famously broke off her engagement with Ben Affleck shortly before she married Marc Anthony. Now it seems she may have turned to her ex-fiance as her marriage to Anthony was crumbling.

Us Weekly reports that Guadalupe Lopez, the singer-actress's mother, sought Affleck's advice on July 12, days after she accompanied her daughter to the BAFTA bash with Prince William and Kate Middleton in Los Angeles.

"Guadalupe reached out to Ben over email. She wanted advice for Jennifer," a source told the magazine. "She always liked and trusted him. [Ben] replied back on email, wished her well and offered what he could."

Three days after that reported email exchange with Affleck, Lopez and Anthony announced they were calling it quits after seven years of marriage.

"This was a very difficult decision," the couple said in a joint statement last Friday. "We have come to an amicable conclusion on all matters. It is a painful time for all involved and we appreciate the respect of our privacy at this time."

Lopez, 41, wed Anthony, 42, in June 2004, just months after she and Affleck split. Affleck, 38, is now happily married to Jennifer Garner, with whom he has two daughters.

Lopez and Anthony also have two children, three-year-old twins Max and Emme.

This was her third marriage, and the second marriage for Anthony.

Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony Split Was No Surprise, Report Says

PRNewsFoto/Kohl's Department Stores, John Shearer(LOS ANGELES) -- Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony's split after seven years of marriage may have been a shock to fans, but People reports it was no surprise to those who knew the stars best.

A source close to Anthony tells the magazine that rumors that he was unfaithful are not true, but the couple "started to see life differently."  The source adds, "Though they love, admire and respect each other very much, they just needed to be apart."

Meanwhile, Us Weekly paints a less rosy picture.  The magazine claims Lopez was motivated to move on by Anthony's controlling nature -- and possibly by her former boyfriend, Ben Affleck.  Lopez's mother, Guadalupe Lopez, "reached out to Ben over email," the publication reports.  "She wanted advice for Jennifer."

Us Weekly's source says of Affleck and his once-future mother-in-law, "She always liked and trusted him.  [Ben] replied back on email, wished her well and offered what he could."

Three days after the exchange, says the magazine, came the bombshell that Lopez and Anthony were splitting.

"It was a very bad marriage, and Jennifer got the courage to end things," declared the magazine's unnamed source, who claimed Anthony "was a terrible husband."

Ben Affleck Lost $400K to Universal Studios President in Poker Ring

Jason LaVeris/FilmMagic(LOS ANGELES) -- Ben Affleck needs to brush up on his poker playing skills.

In an interview with Star magazine, an "insider" explained that the actor was involved in the Tinseltown top secret poker ring with several other actors, and lost $400,000 to the president of Universal Studios, Ron Meyer.

According to the source, "Ben busted big.  He drummed up a giant tab, and then all of a sudden he disappeared from the game.  He wasn't seen for months."

Losing that sum of money to such an important figure in the movie industry could have proved fatal for Affleck.

"We knew that he couldn't stiff a businessman like Ron Meyer.  That would be 'career over' in Hollywood. Suicide,” the insider said, but added, “Ben eventually paid up and started showing up again for more games.”

Other stars allegedly involved in the ring include Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon and Tobey Maguire, who's married to Meyer’s daughter, Jennifer.

Tobey Maguire Sued as Celeb Poker Ring is Revealed

Jeffrey Mayer/WireImage(LOS ANGELES) -- It's like a scene from a movie -- in fact, it is: 2001's Ocean's Eleven featured a sequence where Hollywood stars, playing themselves, faced off in a high-stakes underground poker game.  But Star magazine reports the sequence is very real, and now some celebrities could be in legal trouble because of it.

According to the magazine, Tobey Maguire is being sued by the victims of a now-jailed ponzi scheme architect, claiming Brad Ruderman used their money to pay off massive poker losses he suffered at the hands of celebrities including the former Spider-Man star.

Star reports Ruderman -- once the CEO of Ruderman Capital Partners -- lost some $25 million of his clients' money at a series of secret poker games attended by Hollywood celebrities, including Maguire, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and Leonardo DiCaprio. Ruderman reportedly lost more than $300,000 to Maguire in a single hand back in 2007, the magazine reports.

A source tells Star that card shark Maguire "could have made $30 to $40 million from these games," which were protected by armed guards and held at Hollywood hotspots like the Beverly Hills hotel, Four Seasons, and the Viper Room.

Maguire has reportedly retained legal counsel, who insists the games weren't illegal, Star reports.  Other notables named in the suit are director Nick Cassavetes, Paris Hilton's sex tape partner Rick Salomon, and professional gambler and Welcome Back, Kotter star Gabe Kaplan.

Ben Affleck Busted After Paparazzi Chase?

Photo Courtesy - ABC News(LOS ANGELES) -- Ben Affleck was given a speeding ticket in Los Angeles Wednesday while driving with wife Jennifer Garner, but a source tells UsMagazine.com he had a decent excuse.

"Ben and Jen were being followed by a pack of 12 paparazzi," the eyewitness explains. "He was being aggressively chased."

Either cops didn't fall for it, or maybe the star and director of The Town figured he could afford the ticket.

He drove off after being cited.
