Report: Gerald Butler Sought Treatment for Substance Abuse

JB Lacroix/WireImage(LOS ANGELES) -- Gerald Butler has been undergoing treatment for substance abuse at the Betty Ford Center and is expected to be released Friday, TMZ.com reports.

According to the website, the actor began having problems in 2006 while coping with the physical demands of shooting his drama 300 in 2006.  TMZ says Butler’s dependence on prescription drugs increased when he was injured in December in a surfing accident while filming Of Men and Mavericks.

A source tells TMZ Butler realized he was relying too much on prescription pain medicine and decided to enter Betty Ford three weeks ago before his problem turned into a full-blown addiction. The source says Butler also had an issue with cocaine, but the main problem was pills and pain management.

Lindsay Lohan Served with Lawsuit While in Court

AL SEIB/AFP/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) -- Wednesday just wasn't a very good day for Lindsay Lohan, who was taken into custody after her probation was revoked.

As she arrived at a Los Angeles court for her progress hearing, she was served with a lawsuit in an unrelated case.

The lawsuit was filed in July by Dawn Bradley, the former Betty Ford Center employee with whom Lohan allegedly scuffled last year while receiving treatment at the California facility.  Bradley has claimed the Mean Girls star grabbed her right wrist and twisted and pulled it for several seconds as she resisted a breathalyzer test.  Bradley seeks at least $1 million in damages.

Lohan's probation was revoked Wednesday after the judge said she'd missed several appearances at a Los Angeles women's center as part of her community service requirements in her shoplifting case.  She reportedly has posted $100,000 bail.

Lindsay Lohan Sued by Ex-Rehab Center Worker over Alleged Scuffle

Stephen Dunn/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) -- On the day Lindsay Lohan appeared in court for a probation hearing, she was slapped with a lawsuit stemming from the alleged scuffle she had with an employee at Betty Ford Center last December while receiving treatment at the Rancho Mirage, California, facility.

TMZ.com reports Dawn Bradley, who was previously referred to by the media as Dawn Holland, filed suit Thursday against the Mean Girls star, again claiming Lohan grabbed her right wrist, and twisted and pulled it for eight to 10 seconds as she resisted a breathalyzer test.

At the time of the alleged incident, Bradley told a 911 dispatcher that the two fought after Lohan and two other women left the center without permission.  Prosecutors chose not to file charges against the actress for her role in the incident.

Bradley, who claims she suffered "great mental, physical and nervous pain and suffering," was fired following the alleged fight for discussing it with the media.  She seeks at least $1 million in damages.

That amount seems to be an awfully high for Lohan these days. During her probation hearing on Thursday, her attorney claimed that the actress has had "financial issues" that have made it difficult for her to receive court-ordered psychological counseling.

Lindsay Lohan Scheduled to Leave Rehab

Photo Courtesy - Al Seib/AFP/Getty Images(RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif.) -- Lindsay Lohan is getting ready to leave the Betty Ford Center, where she's been addressing her addictions since September.

The troubled actress entered rehab back on Sept. 27 after she violated her probation by failing a mandatory drug test.  The scheduled Jan. 3 release date was deliberately chosen by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Elden Fox to help the actress avoid any temptations on New Year's Eve.

A well-publicized dust-up with an eventually-fired Betty Ford staffer in December was apparently not counted against Lohan.  However, if she fails a drug test before her next court date on Feb. 25, Fox will reportedly order her to jail for 180 days.

Lohan seems ready to move on with her life.  On New Year's Day, she tweeted, "Today is the first day of the rest of my life 'The future depends on what we do in the present.' -Mahatma Gandhi... One step at a time...."

Betty Ford Staffer Fired in Wake of Lindsay Lohan Incident

Photo Courtesy - AL SEIB/AFP/Getty Images(RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif.) -- The rehab worker who allegedly was involved in an altercation with Lindsay Lohan has been fired by the Betty Ford Center for breaking patient confidentiality rules.

Lohan has been receiving treatment at the facility since September.

The fired Betty Ford staffer, Dawn Holland, told TMZ.com that she scolded Lohan for returning past curfew to her halfway house after spending an evening at a local bar.

"She tried to snatch the phone out of my arm. She grabbed my wrist and snatched it down and twisted my arm and hand and swore a few choice words at me," Holland told TMZ.

Police arrived at a Betty Ford Center facility early Dec. 12 in response to an incident involving Lohan, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said in a statement to ABCNews.com.

"On Dec. 12, 2010 at 1:03 a.m. officers from the Palm Desert Police Department conducted a battery investigation," the statement said. "The incident involved Lindsay Lohan and another female adult who is a staff member. Lohan was reported as a suspect in the investigation. The victim desired prosecution."

"The incident is being investigated as a misdemeanor not committed in the presence of a peace officer," the statement continued. "Therefore, no one was arrested at the scene. The investigation is currently ongoing. Upon completion of the investigation, the reports will be forwarded to the District Attorney's office to determine if charges will be filed in the case."

Lohan claims Holland was the instigator. Holland denied that to TMZ, saying, "I did not touch the woman. I am not willing to risk my job over any patient."

Lohan's lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, declined to comment on the specifics of the case "as we await the completion of the police investigation."

"It should be noted, however, that it was Ms. Lohan who called 911 to request police assistance at the time this incident occurred," Holley said in a statement released Tuesday.

Late Tuesday, Lohan's accuser was fired for breaking confidentiality rules and speaking publicly about a patient. Clinic spokesman Russ Patrick said in a statement that the worker was fired for violating patient confidentiality by giving interviews and "disclosing a privileged document."

Lindsay Lohan Reportedly at Betty Ford Center

Photo Courtesy - ABC News(RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif.) -- Lindsay Lohan has checked into the famous Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, California, according to TMZ.com.  Lohan reportedly arrived at the rehab facility on Monday and is expected to stay there until her probation violation hearing on Oct. 22.  The center has been home to a number of celebrities battling addiction, including Chevy Chase, Elizabeth Taylor, Gary Busey, Kelsey Grammar, David Hasselhoff, Liza Minnelli and Anna Nicole Smith.

Lohan's father, Michael Lohan, has voiced his sentiments on the rehab center.  He tells Us Weekly, "I went there myself, and I will tell you, Betty Ford is a country club. They administer prescription meds and even put their patients on prescription meds. Once more, they don't have family therapy at all." He claims "most, if not all" Betty Ford patients eventually relapse.
