(NEW YORK) -- The critically-acclaimed, racy film Blue Valentine, starring Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling, opens in select theaters on Wednesday.
Williams and Gosling play a couple who attempt to salvage their failing marriage.
The movie attracted attention in October when it received an NC-17 rating for its graphic sexual content. Following an appeal, the movie was given an R rating earlier this month.
In other related news, there are no movies opening in wide release this week. Little Fockers enters the holiday weekend as the reigning box office champ, having earned $30.8 million last weekend.
