Bobby Brown Serves 9 Hours of 55-Day Sentence

Tiffany Rose/WireImage(LOS ANGELES) -- Bobby Brown has been released from jail after serving just nine hours of his 55-day sentence.

Brown, 44, was sentenced last month to 55 days in jail and four years of summary probation for his most recent drunk driving arrest.

Brown turned himself in on Wednesday shortly before 10 a.m. and was released at 6:58 p.m., according to jail records. After he was released, he was put on electronic monitoring by Los Angeles County Probation, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Office said. The R&B singer is required to wear an ankle bracelet.

He is currently home with his family, a representative for the R&B star said in a statement to ABC News.

“Mr. Brown has accepted responsibility for what occurred last October 2012. Mr. Brown is pleased that the matter has been resolved and to be home with this wife and young son,” Brown’s attorney, Christopher Brown, said in a statement to ABC News.

Brown’s arrest Oct. 24 marked his second in a year. His first DUI arrest was in March 2012. He has long struggled with alcohol and drug abuse. He was also charged with a DUI in Florida in 1996.

Bobby Brown Is ‘in a Good Place,' Attorney Says

Tiffany Rose/WireImage(LOS ANGELES) -- Bobby Brown admitted himself into rehab last week, as part of his plea deal following his DUI arrest in March.

“Mr. Brown takes his agreement very seriously and admitted himself three weeks after concluding his honeymoon in Mexico during a break from the New Edition tour,” his attorney Christopher Brown told ABC News in a statement. “Bobby is doing well and receiving services that comply with his agreement with the State of California.”

The New Edition singer was arrested for driving under the influence and using his cell phone on a public way without a headset one month after his ex Whitney Houston died. He pleaded no contest and was sentenced to probation and ordered to complete a 90-day alcohol education program.

His latest stint in rehab comes less than eight weeks after he wed his second wife, Alicia Etheredge-Brown, in Hawaii. She has given him her blessing.

“Bobby’s children and loved ones are very proud of him,” Etheredge-Brown, his wife and manager, told ABC News in the statement. “We appreciate his fans’ prayers and well wishes.  Bobby is mentally in a good place.”

Brown has long struggled with alcohol and drug abuse.

Prior to his March arrest, Brown was charged with alcohol and drug-related offenses, and in a 2010 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Houston memorably detailed the cocaine and marijuana she and Brown did together. Cocaine was also linked to Houston’s sudden death in February.

But Brown told the Today show in May that he was not the reason Houston’s gone. “I didn’t get high [on narcotics] before I met Whitney … I smoked weed and drank beer … but no, I wasn’t the one that got Whitney on drugs,” he said, adding that he hadn’t touched narcotics in seven years.

Bobby Brown Back in Rehab?

Gilbert Carrasquillo/FilmMagic(LOS ANGELES) -- Less than eight weeks after he wed his second wife in Hawaii, Bobby Brown is reportedly in rehab for alcohol addiction.

Gossip website TMZ quoted sources close to the New Edition singer saying that he admitted himself to a treatment facility because “he realized he couldn’t do it on his own.”

Brown’s rep did not respond immediately to ABC News’ request for comment.

Brown has long struggled with alcohol and drug abuse. He was arrested for a DUI in March, one month after his ex Whitney Houston died. He pleaded no contest and was sentenced to probation and ordered to complete a 90-day alcohol education program.

Prior to that, Brown was charged with drug-related offenses, and in a 2010 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Houston memorably detailed the cocaine and marijuana she and Brown did together.

According to TMZ, Brown has entered rehab because he “decided that he needed help and wants to make the best out of the rest of his life for his children’s sake.”

Brown wed girlfriend Alicia Etheridge in Honolulu in June. Prior to their engagement in May 2010 Brown and Etheridge dated for three years following Brown’s split with Whitney Houston in 2007. The couple have one child together, Cassius, born in 2009.

He had one child with Houston, Bobbi Kristina Brown.

Bobby Brown Marries in Hawaii; Bobbi Kristina Not Present

Courtesy: Bobby Brown Jr.(HONOLULU) -- It's Bobby Brown's prerogative to pack a concert and a wedding into a single trip to Hawaii.  A source confirms to People magazine that on Monday, less than 24 hours after performing with New Edition in Honlulu, Bobby tied the knot with his fiancee Alicia Etheredge in that city.

Attendees at the nuptials included Brown's kids Landon, La'Princia and Bobby Jr., as well as Cassius, his three-year-old son with Etheredge.  Bobby Jr. posted a photo of the wedding party on Instagram.

Absent from the festivities was Bobbi Kristina, Brown's daughter with Whitney Houston.  A source tells People that the 19-year-old is "not on good terms right now" with her dad.

Brown proposed to Etheredge during a New Edition show in Florida in 2010.  He told People in 2011 that because of her, "I got my passion back for music and for loving myself."

Brown and Etheredge, who's his manager, will spend their honeymoon on the road with New Edition.  Their next date is June 23 in Oakland, California.

Bobby Brown to Wed in Hawaii

Sandra Rose/Getty Images(HONOLULU) -- Bobby Brown plans to wed his longtime fiancé today in Hawaii, the R&B star and ex-husband of Whitney Houston told a crowd at a New Edition concert Sunday night. But the one possible no show? Brown’s daughter Bobbi Kristina, who may have chosen to stay in New York to work on her upcoming show.

Bobby Brown, 43, told the audience at New Edition’s Father’s Day show at the Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu that he plans to wed girlfriend Alicia Etheridge on Monday, according to the Star Advertiser. At the concert, LaPrincia Brown and Bobby Brown Jr., two of the “My Prerogative” singer’s children from a relationship previous to his with Houston, came onstage at the concert, along with Etheridge.

Bobbi Kristina’s absence at Sunday’s concert led to speculation that the 19-year-old will not be in attendance at the nuptials. It’s believed that Bobbi Kristina, Houston’s only daughter who was frequently by her side, will remain in New York to tape her upcoming reality-TV series for the Lifetime network.

Prior to their engagement in May 2010 Brown and Etheridge dated for three years following Brown’s split with Whitney Houston in 2007. The couple have one child together, Cassius, born in 2009.

It was during the annual Funk Fest in 2010 when Brown proposed to Etheridge, who has also served as his manager over the years. Carrying baby Cassius to the stage she was greeted by Brown on bended knee as he presented her with an engagement ring.

Bobby Brown has five children, Landon, Bobby Jr., La’Princia, Bobbi Kristina and Cassius.

Calls made to Bobbi Kristina by ABC News were not returned.

New Bobby Brown Song Not About Whitney, Says Rep

Gilbert Carrasquillo/FilmMagic(NEW YORK) -- When Bobby Brown debuted a new song titled "Don't Let Me Die" on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno Wednesday night, some media outlets assumed it was a tribute to his late ex-wife, Whitney Houston.

The reports highlighted certain lyrics, including, "I didn't realize that every breath I took was from you, you were my air." Bobby also sang, "I guess I [messed] up pretty bad, I didn't know who you were, I didn't know what we had, now I'm stuck living in the past, trying to get the pieces back, but I guess now you're gone."

However, Bobby's rep denies to E! News that the song refers to Whitney. The song reportedly was written before Whitney died in February.

Bobbi Kristina, Bobby Brown Mending Their Relationship?

Sandra Rose/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Whitney Houston’s February death brought new attention to the relationship between her daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown and Brown’s father Bobby Brown.  Media reports speculated that the father and daughter were on shaky ground, with Bobbi Kristina reportedly wanting to change her name to cut ties with her dad.

If those rumors were true, then it seems Bobbi Kristina and her dad, Bobby, are at least talking these days. Us Weekly reports that a witness says the pair were together earlier this week, eating lunch at New York City’s Blue Fin.  Also along for the meal were Bobby’s longtime girlfriend, Alicia Etheridge, and three other people, according to the magazine.

A source tells Us Weekly that Bobbi Kristina “was on her phone and texting a crazy amount. She didn’t seem too thrilled to be there, in all honesty.”

Bobbi Kristina has been under the microscope since her mother’s death.  Media reports stated that family members were concerned after the teen was romantically linked to Nick Gordon, who was informally adopted by Whitney when he was a youngster.

Bobby has also racked up his share of headlines.  He was arrested in March after police in Los Angeles charged him with driving under the influence.  Prosecutors dropped the charge after Brown pleaded no contest to one count of driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 or higher, according to TMZ.

Bobby won’t have to serve any addition jail time, but he must complete a 90-day alcohol program, according to TMZ.

Report: Bobby Brown DUI Arrest Left Whitney's Mom 'Vindicated'

Gilbert Carrasquillo/FilmMagic(NEW YORK) -- Bobby Brown's DUI arrest this week may have been bad news for him, but Whitney Houston's mother was apparently "vindicated" by his recent run-in with the law, according to TMZ.

Sources close to Cissy Houston tell the gossip site she always felt Brown "was a cancer" that "infected Whitney's life with negative influences." What's more, the arrest proved her right in trying to keep Brown away from Bobbi Kristina, the daughter he had with the late singer.  As one source said of Brown to TMZ, "This is the last person she needs to be around."

For his part, Brown's attorney, Tiffany Feder, issued a statement early Wednesday that declares, "Everyone is innocent until proven guilty and Mr. Brown was not driving erratically.  He was speaking on his cell phone.  Mr. Brown has not been convicted of anything associated with this incident.  Mr. Brown is taking this matter seriously and an investigation is underway.  The legal process shall run its course."
