Bryan Adams Gets Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Decca Records(LOS ANGELES) -- It was pouring rain in Los Angeles Monday, but that didn't stop about 50 hard-core fans from showing up to watch Bryan Adams receive the 2,435th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Adams' star is located outside the Musicians Institute on Hollywood Boulevard, prompting the singer to note, "I really thought this was gonna be outside Ripley's Believe It or Not!."

He added, "I remember being in Hollywood here at the age of about 16, and marveling at the stars on the pavement.  But the idea of being part of it never entered my mind.  It was too far-fetched."

Adams went on to thank a long list of people who've supported him, from his family, to his musical collaborators, to the folks he's worked with in the movie industry, to those with whom he works in his side career as a photographer.

He finished by saying, "I'd even like to thank all the bands that I've supported over the years: The Kinks, Journey, Foreigner and The Rolling Stones.  Thanks for the break.  And finally, of course, most importantly, to the fans."

Before Adams made his remarks, he was saluted by hockey legend and fellow Canadian Wayne Gretzky, who's been his friend since 1980.

Gretzky told the crowd, "He's a very humble Canadian.  We're very proud to say that he is Canadian, for not only what he has done as a performer, but how he's handled himself, and the things he's done for charitable foundations...worldwide."
