Casey Abrams Gets the Boot Once and for All on 'American Idol'

PRNewsFoto/Zumobi(LOS ANGELES) -- Five weeks after he was initially voted off but saved by the judges, Casey Abrams was eliminated from American Idol Thursday night.

He sang "I Put a Spell on You" for his farewell song and hugged all the judges and several audience members during the performance.   As you know, the judges only get one save per season, but that early vote of confidence wasn't enough to keep one of their clearly favorite contestants in the running.

The top six contestants opened the show with a medley of songs written by and/or performed by Carole King, echoing Wednesday night's theme, including "It Might as Well Rain Until September," "Take Good Care of My Baby," "One Fine Day," "Go Away Little Girl" and "It's Too Late."

Season nine finalist Crystal Bowersox returned to the show to sing her song "Ridin' with the Radio," and Bruno Mars made his first appearance on American Idol to deliver his latest single, "The Lazy Song."

American Idol's top five will perform next Wednesday night at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.

Are 'American Idol's' Casey Abrams and Haley Reinhart a Couple?

PRNewsFoto/Zumobi(LOS ANGELES) -- Casey Abrams may have stolen a fellow contestant's heart while competing on American Idol.

In Touch magazine claims Abrams and fellow Idol top 11 singer Haley Reinhart are romancing one another. The magazine's source says Abrams and Reinhart, who are both 20 years old, have a "very touchy-feely relationship."

The source adds, "They’re always lying on each other when they’re around the other contestants and everybody thinks they’re hooking up."

'American Idol' Judges Save Casey Abrams from Elimination

PRNewsFoto/Zumobi(LOS ANGELES) -- In what certainly qualifies as the first genuine shocker of the still young American Idol season, Casey Abrams received the lowest number of votes this week -- and that didn't sit at all well with the judges, who used their one save of the season on him.

After the vote announcement, Abrams began singing Ray Charles' "I Don't Need No Doctor" in order to earn the judge's save, but Randy Jackson stopped him mid-song, saying "We know who you are, Casey, we don't need to hear you sing anymore."

Steven Tyler agreed, saying, "This is crazy wrong.  We've made a decision here to keep you on."

After touching on the personal challenges and the somewhat uneven performances Abrams delivered recently, Jennifer Lopez told him to get back to being a musician and encouraged him to let people feel his soul, summing up the panel's decision by declaring, "You deserve to be here."

Abrams absolutely freaked out upon learning the news, running around and hugging the judges, Ryan Seacrest and his parents.  Stefano Langone and Thia Megia were in the bottom three with Abrams, but they'll be back next week.

As a result of Abrams' save, two contestants will be sent home on next week's results show.

The top 11 will once again perform on American Idol next Wednesday night at 8:00 ET on Fox.
