Ian McKellen to Officiate at Patrick Stewart's Wedding

LEON NEAL,LEON NEAL/AFP/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- It will be an event that already has geeks buzzing: Magneto marries Professor X. Jean-Luc Picard married by Gandalf. That is to say, when Patrick Stewart ties the knot for the third time -- this time with jazz singer Sunny Ozell -- his friend and X-Men co-star Ian McKellen will be the one pronouncing them man and wife.

“I’m going to marry Patrick,” McKellen revealed on the U.K.’s Jonathan Ross Show this past weekend, before the openly gay actor quickly clarified, “I am going to officiate at his wedding.”

McKellen, who plays mutant villain Magneto to Stewart's hero Professor Charles Xavier, admitted that he doesn’t know how he’ll legally be able to do that -- but suggested that in “America, somewhere,” it’s fairly simple.

“I read out the words, and Sunny and Patrick will then be married -- 'I declare you man and wife,'” he said.

It’s not McKellen’s first time, either. “I’ve done it once before, with two guys having a civil partnership [in the U.K.],” McKellen told Ross. “I was crying my eyes out.”

For that ceremony, McKellen revealed he, “went with a sort of gown, white, something I bought in India. It was rather fetching.”

He did not reveal what he plans to wear for former Star Trek captain Stewart’s wedding, saying only, “You mustn’t upstage the bride.”

Stewart’s bride-to-be is less than half his age. The 72-year-old actor met the 35-year-old Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter in 2008 when he was performing in a production of Macbeth at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.

The couple shares a home in Brooklyn.

Anne Hathaway Ties the Knot ANGELES) -- Oscar-nominated actress Anne Hathaway has tied the knot with actor-jewelry designer Adam Shulman.

More than 100 guests watched Hathaway and her beau of four years exchange vows at a private estate in scenic Big Sur, Calif., on Saturday night, People Magazine reported.

The actress wore a gown by her close friend, Valentino Garavani, who earlier this month revealed he would be designing a dress for the actress’ nuptials.

The 29-year-old actress and Shulman announced their engagement last November.

Hathaway began dating the “mellow” Shulman, 31, following the messy end of her four-year romance with Italian entrepreneur Raffaello Follieri in 2008. Follieri pleaded guilty in September 2008 to swindling investors out of millions in an elaborate con in which he posed as a real estate consultant for the Vatican.

Understandably, Hathaway eased into her next relationship.

“We hit it off immediately, but it took us a pretty long time to get together,” Hathaway told Vogue. Once they realized they were both single, she said, “things sped up a bit — and I think I’ll leave it at that.”

“So far, it’s worked out great,” the actress and last year’s Oscar host told Harper’s Bazaar, adding that Shulman was far more “mellow” than previous boyfriends.

“Mellow doesn’t always make for a good story, but it makes for a good life,” she said.
