Channing Tatum: I Gain 25-30 Pounds Between Movies

Photo by Stuart Wilson/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) -- Channing Tatum showed off his amazing physique in last year’s blockbuster Magic Mike, but the actor revealed in a new interview that he doesn’t always look so ripped.

“I’m a fat kid on the inside,” he told Cosmopolitan magazine for its July issue. “I love food so much and I fluctuate about 25-30 pounds between movies.”

In fact, Tatum, 33, who was crowned People magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive” last year, added that a dream role for him would be “a chess movie that requires very little movement.”

That way, “I can eat pizza and play chess on the beach all day,” he said. “And then eat more pizza and cheeseburgers and drink beer. That’d be amazing.”

But it’ll have to wait. Right now, Tatum is filming Jupiter Ascending in London and preparing for his pregnant wife, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, to give birth to their first child. So, how does the couple of eight years manage to balance so much at one time?

“You have to want it,” he tells the magazine. “Jenna’s and my thing is checking in with each other all the time, like, ‘On a scale of 1 to 10, how much do you love me right now?’ And you gotta be honest, and you’ve got to want an honest answer.”

Channing Tatum Is "People" Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive 2012

Stuart Wilson/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Actor Channing Tatum, who had audiences swooning when he appeared as a stripper in the 2012 film Magic Mike, has been named People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive 2012.

The actor joins the select club of Hollywood heartthrobs who have taken the title since the magazine first began bestowing it in 1985.

Actor Bradley Cooper, who appeared in The Hangover, received the honor last year. Other previous Sexiest Men include Mel Gibson, Nick Nolte, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Pierce Brosnan, Johnny Depp and Richard Gere.

Tatum, 32, hails from Alabama.  He reportedly loves giving massages to his wife, actress Jenna Dewan-Tatum, and wants to start a family.

“I’m ready; I think she’s ready,” he tells People in the issue that hits newsstands Friday.  “The first number that pops into my head is three, but I just want one to be healthy and then we’ll see where we go after that.”

“It’s really easy for us guys to say, ‘I want like 15 kids,’” he continues.  “Jenna will be like, ‘Well you better get another wife!’”

The special issue also names worthy celebrity men in several other categories, including Men of the Year; Chill Guys; Sexy at Every Age -- which recognizes stars in their 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s; 50 Shades of Grey (which names salt-and-pepper-haired heartthrobs); and Hot Dogs, which lists Hollywood’s dog lovers.

Game show host Wayne Brady and Drive star Ryan Gosling are among the Hot Dogs, while newlywed Justin Timberlake and Taken 2 actor Liam Neeson are on the Chill Guys list.

Former President Bill Clinton, President Barack Obama, CNN host Anderson Cooper and Skyfall bad guy Javier Bardem are on the 50 Shades of Grey list.

Channing Tatum Denies Ex-Strippers Inspired "Magic Mike" Moves

Stuart Wilson/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) -- Channing Tatum says the characters in his new film Magic Mike are fictional, despite two former strippers' recent contention that they inspired parts of the movie.

The ex-strippers recently told that they once worked with Tatum -- a former stripper himself -- and that they taught him moves used in the film.

However, Tatum refuted the claims while promoting the movie over the weekend.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, he said, "There’s not one character that I took from my real life; this is just a world that I went into, and I had a perspective on.  And we created everything from a fictional place."

While Tatum said he didn't want to say anything bad about the former strippers because they are "very interesting" people, he also claimed, "Those guys have been trying to make money off of me since I got into this business."

Magic Mike opens this Friday.

Jonah Hill Wanted to be a Rapper in High School

C Flanigan/FilmMagic(LOS ANGELES) -- Jonah Hill says he wanted to be a rapper just like Eminem when he was a teen in high school.

In an interview with Parade magazine to promote his new movie, 21 Jump Street, Hill recalls, "I had bleached hair and wanted to be Eminem badly!"

Hill's Jump Street co-star, Channing Tatum recalls his high school days, saying, "I played football and wore a letterman jacket a lot. But I could not wait to get out of high school. When graduation day came, I could not get out fast enough. It wasn’t a bad experience; it wasn’t just something I enjoyed."

When asked if anything surprises him about today's teenagers, Hill says, "This is going to make me sound 150 years old, but it's technology. They live their lives through Facebook and stuff. And I don’t live my life through that at all. I prefer talking."

The pair portray undercover cops who pose as teenagers to track down a high school drug ring.  21 Jump Street opens nationwide March 16.

Channing Tatum: 'I’m Not the Best Actor'

Stuart Wilson/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) -- Channing Tatum says he's planning to improve his skills as an actor by learning from those around him. “I know I’m not the best actor,” says the star of the action movie G.I. Joe, but he hopes his "characters are getting better.”

In a cover interview with Details, Tatum says part of the reason he chose his two recent film projects, The Vow and Dear John, was to absorb acting knowledge from co-star Rachel McAdams and director Lasse Hallstrom.

The 31-year-old Tatum tells the magazine, “I wanted to learn from Rachel on The Vow.” She plays his wife in the film.  Tatum adds, “I wanted to learn from [director] Lasse Hallstrom on Dear John. He did The Cider House Rules and What’s Eating Gilbert Grape. I didn’t go to acting school, so my knowledge of story, filmmaking and character comes from just being on set doing it.”

Tatum reveals that he also wants to become more involved in producing movies.
