Adele Smashes Chart Records with '21'

Columbia Records(NEW YORK) -- Adele continues to rewrite British chart history thanks to her album 21.

Billboard reports that the disc has now spent 10 weeks at number one on the UK album chart, making it the only album by a female solo artist ever to stay on top for that long.  In addition, 21 has now topped the U.K. chart longer than any other album since Dire Straits' Brothers in Arms, back in 1986.

21 is also the first album in U.K. chart history to sell over 100,000 copies a week for each of the 10 weeks it's been in stores.  In the UK alone, the disc has now sold 1.754 million copies.

Adele Matches Madonna UK Chart Record with New CD

Columbia Records(LONDON) -- Adele's new album 21 has done very well on the chart in the U.S., but in the singer's home country of England, it's a record breaker.

According to the BBC, 21 has now spent nine weeks at number one on the UK album chart.  The other only female solo artist who's ever stayed at number one that long has been Madonna, with her 1990 best-of album The Immaculate Collection.

If Adele's album stays on top for an additional week, she'll hold the all-time record.

In addition, Adele's song "Someone Like You" is number one on the UK single chart, and she has two other singles in the top 40.

Black Eyed Peas Match Chart Record Set by the Eagles

WireImage/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- The Black Eyed Peas have just set yet another chart record.  Their new single, "Just Can't Get Enough," has just become their 14th straight top-40 hit.  That's the longest streak of top-40 hits by a group since The Eagles scored 14 straight between 1975 and 1999. The Peas' list of top 40 hits dates back to "Where Is the Love," which reached #8 in 2003.

The group with the most consecutive top-40 hits ever is Paul McCartney's post-Beatles band, Wings.  They scored 23 straight top-40 hits between 1972 and 1980.  But the record for the the longest streak of most consecutive top 40 hits among all artists is held by Elton John, who placed an amazing 36 singles in the top 40 between 1972 and 1986.

Taylor Swift Number One Again In Lowest-Selling Chart Week Ever

Photo Courtesy - Big Machine Records(NEW YORK) -- Taylor Swift's Speak Now is number one on the Billboard album chart for a sixth non-consecutive week, but she also has the dubious honor of being number one in the lowest-selling week since Soundscan began tracking sales in 1991.

Every single album on the chart sold fewer than 60,000 copies last week, which is further evidence of the continued slide in album sales worldwide.

Swift, at number one, sold 52,000 copies of Speak Now last week, according to Nielsen Soundscan.  That's the lowest number of copies sold by a number one album since the Dreamgirls soundtrack topped the chart four years ago on sales of 60,000.

Rihanna Sets UK Chart Record with 'What's My Name?'

Photo Courtesy - ABC News(LONDON) -- Rihanna has set a U.K. music chart record on the strength of her latest hit, "What's My Name?"

According to the BBC, she's become the first female solo artist in U.K. chart history to have number-one singles in five consecutive years.  Her number-one singles have been, in order from oldest to most recent, "Umbrella," "Take a Bow," the Jay-Z-Kanye West-Rihanna collaboration "Run This Town," and "Only Girl (In the World)."

Elvis Presley was the last solo artist to achieve number-one singles in five straight years, from 1957-1963.
